Year later, in 1982, Michelle had received a degree in Creative Arts with a minor in Drama. After receiving the degree, she didnt return to Malaysia, but continued her study in England. In 1983, when Michelle returned to Malaysia for summer vacation, she has no idea that her mother had entered her for the national beauty contest. Eventually, she has been crowned Miss Malaysia 1983 when her age at 21.
The following year after she gets crowned,
Michelle didn’t return to England to continue her advanced studies. She represented Malaysia at the Queen of the Pacific 1983 beauty pageant at Australia and won the crown and won the title of Miss Moomba. That same year, she was also the Malaysia’s representative at the 1983 Miss World Pageant in London.

pageant contest in same year, she got introduced to a Hong Kong businessman, Dickson Poon, whereas at that time he is looking for someone to do a commercial advertisement with Hong Kong famous action star, Jackie Chan for one of watch’s brand sold by his companies. She also appeared in another commercial with Chow Yun-Fat. Thus, she was invited to Hong Kong and successfully did the commercial.

Starting from the commercial, she had caught the attention of a fledgling Hong Kong film production company, D&B Films. After done doing those commercials, Michelle was offered a film contract by Dickson Poon in his newly founded film production company, D&B Films. From that moment on, she began her career as an action film star and had filming in many films till now.
